Derek Robinson believes that successful real estate transactions come about as a result of clear and open communications, particularly relating to the needs and expectations of his clients and the market conditions.

Derek understands that every client has unique requirements and circumstances and that while the real estate process is a well-worn path, the journey to achieving a successful transaction will be different each time. Flexibility in being able to adjust schedules, combined with a high level of responsiveness to changing needs, are essential elements that enable Derek to provide his clients with the very best level of service and support.

No One Likes Surprises
So what does Derek do to avoid surprises or to minimize them if they occur? Simply put, it’s his methodical and meticulous attention to the real estate process, the client’s needs, and to those details that could easily delay or cause the transaction to fail. “You cannot be passive in this process, you need to be proactive, anticipate obstacles and have strategies ready to support the client as changes occur”.

Patience not Pressure
While others might push a client to quickly make a choice so they can move on to the next client, Derek urges his clients to think it through carefully before making a decision. Derek is also willing to discourage a choice if he sees trouble ahead such as issues that could affect his clients’ welfare in the future – and he gladly points these out along with the other reasons why a home would or would not work to fulfill their dreams, or where home “improvements” may not increase salability.
Derek sees this cautionary care and lack of pressure as the right way to treat clients. Derek’s clients see it as extraordinary.

Broad Real Estate Experience
Becoming a Realtor in 1998, Derek has achieved several designations to provide a higher and better quality of service and knowledge to his clients. These designations are ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative), GRI (Graduate of the Realtor Institute),e-PRO (Certified Internet Technology Professional), RECS (Member Real Estate Cyber Society), and CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert). Derek constantly updates his real estate skills with courses to stay current with todays’ real estate market. Derek also studies and implements the latest technologies to effectively connect and communicate with buyers and sellers to provide the information they seek.

Life At Home
When not busy with real estate, Derek enjoys spending time with his family, coaching club soccer, basketball and playing competitive indoor and outdoor volleyball. Derek has earned a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is a three time national point sparring champion. Camping and fishing are some of his passions and he can often be found with his family out on many of New Mexico’s beautiful lakes enjoying the beauty that this state has to offer!

I started my real estate career after being in other industries, and it was a natural transition. I attended Arizona State University, took a hiatus from college life to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico – and then restarted my higher education by attending the University of New Mexico. With the intention of going to law school, I graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. I took the LSAT in preparation for law school and then took a 90 degree turn to real estate.

I love homes and home life and design and the character that owning a home brings to a person’s life. I love everything about living in a home and I love to help people find the best home for them. I like to think of myself as a REAL ESTATE MATCHMAKER.

My family background has enabled me to explore new technologies and tools that make my client’s home search and real estate process easier and more complete. My grandfather was an entrepreneur and was the founder of one of the most famous machine tool companies in the world – DeVlieg Machine Tool Company. Charles B DeVlieg was an inventor, a business leader and always had a curiosity about how to do something better. This is the DNA that I come from.
